The Drawing Room

The Drawing Room

The Drawing Room is where the lady of the house entertains her guests. The decorations and furnishings in here are contemporary with the house. The chairs and the round supper table are all in the style of Thomas Chippendale; the sideboard is Hepplewhite.  At the back of the room, the Tudor side table has been left as a useful addition. A pole screen stands at the side of the fireplace to protect the ladies' delicate complexions. The six-arm chandelier and the mirrored wall lights have been chosen to provide sufficient light for the ladies to embroider or play cards

The carved oak Tudor side table provides a perfect foil for the silver salt dishes and the mahogany writing box. The box opens to show the velvet-covered writing slope and the interior fitments.

The heavily-gilded fireplace is curved and scrolled
to reflect the feminine ambience of the room.

The marbled hearth stone and the fire basket continue
the theme.
